Washington, DC – The following is a statement from the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living’s (AHCA/NCAL) President & CEO, Mark Parkinson, following the White House’s renomination of Marilyn Tavenner as the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS):

“Having Marilyn Tavenner at the helm of CMS over the past year has helped strengthen and encourage our pursuit toward enhanced quality care. We commend the White House for recognizing that Ms. Tavenner is a qualified and exemplary leader in health care, and encourage the Senate to move forward on her confirmation quickly. The CMS Administrator is too important a position to leave open, and Ms. Tavenner is the right leader for the job."

The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) represent more than 12,000 non-profit and proprietary skilled nursing centers, assisted living communities, sub-acute centers and homes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By delivering solutions for quality care, AHCA/NCAL aims to improve the lives of the millions of frail, elderly and individuals with disabilities who receive long term or post-acute care in our member facilities each day.
