FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

11/2/2011
Washington, D.C – The following is a statement from the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) Executive Director Dave Kyllo about the November 2, U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging hearing that Sen. Bill Nelson (Fla.) is conducting titled, Quality and Oversight in Assisted Living.

All of us want our loved ones to be safe and well cared for when they are receiving care. The events described at today’s hearing and in The Miami-Herald series are unacceptable. NCAL believes that any instance of abuse and neglect must be dealt with swiftly and sternly.

“Protecting our seniors and individuals with disabilities is a priority that must be shared by government, providers, and consumers. NCAL remains committed, as it always has, to working with others to ensure that quality care and services are delivered.”

The National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) is the assisted living voice of the American
Health Care Association (AHCA), the nation's largest organization representing long term care providers.
