Clinical Practice Guidelines 

This guidance developed by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, provides guidance and recommendations to administrators and staff of assisted living communities in order to maximize the quality of life for residents with multiple sclerosis.

The Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations for Assisted Living and Nursing Homes were developed from the latest evidence in dementia care research and the experience of professional direct care experts. The recommendations are the basis for every aspect of our Campaign for Quality Residential Care.

Dementia Care Practice Recommendations Phase 1 and 2 covers fundamentals of dementia care and six key care practice areas: food and fluid consumption, pain management, social engagement, resident wandering, falls and physical restraint-free care. Dementia Care Practice Recommendations Phase 3 End-of-Life Care covers minimizing physical, emotional and spiritual distress; maximizing well-being; ensuring communication with the resident, family and care team.
