The workbook is designed to be used as a study guide to help the students learn the material they are reading in the How To Be a Nurse Assistant text. The textbook and the workbook are closely linked, so it is important to refer to the textbook as you complete each exercise.
A variety of exercises have been included in this workbook with the goal of appealing to individual learning styles. Formats include:
Crossword Puzzle
Essay
Fill in the Blank
Labeling
Matching
Multiple Choice
Spell It Out
True/False
Some matching activities encourage the students to think critically and decide how to handle realistic situations a nurse assistant would face. You have the opportunity to prioritize activities, choose how to react to a difficult situation, or decide what to say to a resident or family member at an awkward moment.
There is a practice exam to help students prepare for the written portion of the state competency test. (60 questions: 55 multiple choice and five fill in the blank; answers are in the instructor’s manual)
The procedure checklists help guide the students through successful completion of all direct care procedures described in the textbook.
