Mission Statement: The Benedictine Health System, a Catholic health care organization entrusted with furthering the health care mission of the Benedictine Sisters of Duluth, Minnesota, provides a spectrum of services with special concern for the poor and the powerless. Highlights

  • St. Gertrude's is connected to St. Francis Regional Medical Center, a state-of-the-art, full service hospital.  This eliminates the need for transportation and allows residents to access a vast array of medical services all under one roof.
  • St. ertrude's provides state-of-the-art health care to help patients and residents achieve their highest functional level in the shortest period of time.  A full range of restorative care services under the direction of a dedicated physician and a consulting physiatrist is provided daily.  Transitional care services for patients recovering from surgery or illness include; physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and wound care
  • St. Gertrude's approach to care is patient-centered.  Three times per week, therapists, nursing staff and dieticians meet with every patient to enhance communication and ensure that each component of the patient's treatment is coordinated. 
  • St. Gertrude’s is committed to excellence through living the organization’s vision and values which are established and reaffirmed annually by the Benedictine Health System.  The organizational vision sets the context for the strategic planning process and annual action plan development. The St. Gertrude’s leadership team communicates and deploys the vision, mission, values, strategic objectives and performance expectations to staff, suppliers, partners, customers and other stakeholders.
