AHCA/NCAL Supports Coalition Request to Congress to Reform Medicare Telehealth Benefits

Medicare; COVID-19

On January 31, AHCA/NCAL joined a coalition of 336 organizations in sending a letter to Congressional leadership to create a pathway for permanent improvements to the Medicare telehealth benefit. During the COVID-19 public health emergency, residents of skilled nursing facilities, assisted living residences, and residences for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities benefitted significantly being able to access many healthcare services furnished safely and effectively via telecommunications technology. The coalition letter asks Congress to authorize the continuation of all current telehealth waivers through December 31, 2024, to review comprehensive evaluations of the value of these telehealth services, and to enact permanent improvements in telehealth flexibilities for those services supported by the evidence.
