Become an Infection Prevention Leader with AHCA/NCAL’s Infection Preventionist Training

Programs and Resources

AHCA/NCAL’s expanded version of its popular Infection Preventionist Specialized Training (IPCO Version 2) online training includes COVID-19 bonus content. The training also teaches leaders how to implement and maintain a facility-wide infection prevention culture.

IPCO Version 2 is designed to train nursing facility Infection Preventionists and is designated for 25 ANCC contact hours by the University of Nebraska Medical Center. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The online course is also approved for 22 NAB CEUs for Administrators. AHCA/NCAL recognizes Administrators will not serve as designated Infection Preventionists but recommends that Administrators consider taking the course to gain a deeper understanding of infection prevention and control in facility operations and how to create a facility-wide infection prevention culture. The training is also highly recommended for assisted living communities because they care for a similar population with similar infection risks.
