On May 7, 2021 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) posted a web-based training series that provides an overview of the general and key clinical considerations important for conducting standardized cognitive and mood assessments. These assessment results are reported on the Minimum Data Set (MDS) Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) which is then used for used for care planning, quality indicators, and Medicare Part A SNF Prospective Payment System (PPS) Payment Driven Payment Model (PDPM) rate purposes. This four-course series is designed for providers in the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting. Each course takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.
