As part of our ongoing advocacy efforts, Assisted Living communities are encouraged to host a community tour during the upcoming congressional recess in August. There’s no better time than now to invite your Member of Congress to see firsthand the issues impacting nursing care, residents, and staff in your community.
To make this process easier, we’ve provided helpful resources:
- A list to identify your Member of Congress and their scheduler
- An invitation template you can customize for your outreach
Start reaching out today to find a convenient time for your community and your member of Congress. The AHCA/NCAL team is ready to assist with setting up your tour, including providing invitation templates and office contacts. For support, you can contact Heather Posthumus or Jill Schewe.
Community tours are vital for educational and legislative advocacy. They give policymakers the opportunity to see the realities of our profession up close, understand how their decisions affect residents and staff, and witness the impact of policies on your community. These tours are among the most effective grassroots lobbying tools we have.
If you’ve already hosted a community tour this year, we’d love to hear about it! Share your experiences and any pictures with the AHCA/NCAL team.
Have questions or need assistance? Reach out — we’re excited to see how your tours unfold!
