Revenue Cycle Management Academy Can Help SNFs Stay Paid

Programs and Resources; Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF)

In the coming months, federal aid will dwindle as the federal government and states move toward a post-pandemic normal order of business. As SNFs continue to struggle with sluggish occupancy and workforce challenges, ensuring that every dollar earned for care delivery is retained will be imperative.

AHCA’s five-module online training program titled Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Academy offers training about a holistic interdisciplinary approach toward revenue management.

RCM Academy can help you develop concrete strategies to secure earned dollars and to “stay paid” when thinking about Managed Care payment recoveries.  RCM Academy can help SNFs:

  • Be ready for the eventual phase down of government assistance
  • Stabilize and better manage predictable revenue flow relative to overhead
  • Stay paid when considering Medicare Advantage Plan payment recovery trends.

RCM can be implemented in a building or more broadly as an organization-wide approach to enhance revenue by minimizing losses from payments that too often are unnecessarily lost or overlooked.

While the billing office plays a vital role in RCM, effective RCM requires a team approach involving a broad array of staff disciplines. AHCA recommends that all skilled nursing facility administrators, assistant administrators, DONs, ADONs, MDS coordinators, nurse leaders, admissions staff and billing office personnel enroll in AHCA’s RCM Academy to provide a cohesive and comprehensive organizational understanding of revenue management.

RCM Academy delivers the information and tools necessary for SNFs to understand and implement systems that lead to high-functioning revenue cycle management teams. RCM team members will be able to apply their practical RCM knowledge and implement daily processes that maximize revenue and minimize avoidable losses.

The cost of the course is $350 for AHCA/NCAL members and $650 for non-members. Upon successful completion, the course is approved for 6.75 NAB CEs.
