Washington, D.C. — Mark Parkinson, President & CEO of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) issued the following statement ahead of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance hearing on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, entitled Promoting Elder Justice: A Call for Reform:
“Our number one priority is and will always be the safety of our nursing home residents. Even one instance of abuse is too many. We have zero tolerance for anything that jeopardizes the privacy, dignity and safety of our residents.
“Nursing homes, in recent years, have made significant improvements in the quality of care provided. In fact, nursing home care remains high for 18 of the 24 quality outcomes measured by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
“AHCA has and will continue actively working with members of the Senate Finance Committee. We welcome this discussion and look forward to working with the committee to continue to advance solutions that improve patient care.”
