WASHINGTON, D.C. - Skilled nursing care centers and local communities across the country will celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week® (NSNCW), formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, on Sunday, May 13, through Saturday, May 19. Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, NSNCW recognizes the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. This year’s theme, “Celebrating Life’s Stories,” recognizes the diverse perspectives that residents, families and staff bring to everyday interactions.

“This week provides an opportunity to honor the incredible stories of those in our nursing centers and communities,” said Mark Parkinson, AHCA President and CEO. “By celebrating each person’s life experiences, we strengthen the connections created in each center nationwide.”

Skilled nursing care providers and members of the public are encouraged to “like” the NSNCW Facebook page and showcase their celebrations throughout the week on social media using the hashtag, #NSNCW.
