AHCA /NCAL NATIONAL QUALITY AWARD
The AHCA/NCAL National
Quality Awards program seeks to recognize long term and post-acute care centers
across the nation that strive for improved quality care. The program sets high
standards for quality based on the Baldrige Performance Excellence criteria and
encourages centers to commit, achieve, and excel in quality performance.
The mission of the Quality Award program is to promote and support the
application of continuous quality improvement in AHCA/NCAL member
organizations. The vision is to be
our member’s quality pathway of choice for quality improvement resources and
BOARD OF OVERSEERS RESPONSIBILITIES
In 2007, the AHCA Board of
Governors established the Board of Overseers to oversee the AHCA/NCAL National
Quality Award program. The responsibilities of the Board are as follows:
- Establish the award criteria and appropriate
policies and procedures to administer, promote, and preserve the
credibility of the National Quality Award program.
- Evaluate all aspects of the Program, including
the adequacy of the criteria and the processes for determining award
- Assess how well the program is achieving its
- Develop yearly goals and measures.
- Prepare an annual report for the AHCA Board of
Governors to assess the program’s accomplishments, process and performance
metrics and include recommendations for improvement.
LEVEL OF COMMITTMENT

1 time per year at locations deemed acceptable by AHCA/NCAL meeting staff,
and will meet by conference call more frequently as necessary.
- Board members are
routinely assigned to work on team projects outside of meetings to
accomplish the Board’s agenda.
- Board members serve
without compensation, but are reimbursed reasonable travel expenses.
CODE OF ETHICAL STANDARDS
of the Board of Overseers are guided by a Code of Ethical Standards to avoid
conflict between the personal interest of Board members and/or the
organizations with which they are affiliated, and the interests of the National
Quality Award program. A violation of
the Code of Ethical Standards shall be cause for resignation or removal. All Board members will be required to sign a Code
of Ethical Standards statement annually.
