CONFERENCE ATTIRE
Business attire is suitable for all sessions, receptions, and hill visits. Please remember to bring a sweater or jacket for air-conditioned rooms.

HEALTH & SAFETY
With health and safety remaining a priority for our attendees, we ask that the following be observed:
  • Being up to date with current vaccines/boosters is preferred for all registered attendees.
  • Masks are worn at the discretion of the attendees.  
  • If you experience symptoms of a respiratory illness while onsite at the event, please wear a source control mask when around others indoors. Consider self-quarantine in your hotel room for 24 hours until symptoms resolve. If needed, please contact AHCA/NCAL staff (meetings@ahca.org) for a COVID-19 or flu test kit.
  • Follow all state, local, and private business health and safety measures that may be in place.

The group room block has closed. If needed, you can to book directly with the Capital Hilton at the current prevailing rate; availability changes frequently, so check back often. If you’d like another nearby option, the Hyatt Place Washington DC/White House is just around the corner.

Reservation requests made after this hotel deadline will be based on availability at the prevailing rate determined by the hotel. Reservations must be accompanied by a first-night room deposit or guaranteed with a major credit card.

A deposit of one night’s room and tax is taken at the time of booking.

HOTEL RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS

The deposit is refundable up to 3 days prior to arrival. Cancellations after that time, and no-shows, will forfeit the first night’s room and tax.


When registering for any AHCA/NCAL committee meeting, conference, or convention, AHCA/NCAL staff cannot assist members, sponsors, or speakers with adding shoulder nights to hotel reservations. If a member, sponsor, or speaker wishes to add nights to their reservation, they must work directly with the hotel regarding availability and will be charged the prevailing rate for those nights.

As one of only two women ever to serve as Whip, Clark currently holds the esteemed title of the highest-ranking woman in Congressional leadership.

Richard Hudson.jpgRichard Hudson has served in Congress since 2013, representing North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. He is a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee's Sub Committee on Health where he focuses on making healthcare more accessible and affordable. A champion of Social Security and Medicare protection and a strong supporter of the long term care profession, he was awarded the Guardian of Seniors' Rights Award by the 60 Plus Association.

Jon Tester.jpegU.S. Senator Jon Tester is a third-generation Montana farmer, a proud grandfather, and a former schoolteacher. He is the Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee and Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. He also serves on the Senate Banking Committee, the Senate Commerce Committee, and the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs.

Senator Tester has been an advocate for Long Term Care. He has led the fight in the Senate against the minimum staffing mandate, sending two letters to CMS. He is a cosponsor on Protecting American's Seniors' Access to Care Act (S. 3410/H.R. 7513), a bill stopping CMS from implementing the final rule.

​manchin.pngU.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) was sworn into the United States Senate on November 15, 2010 to fill the seat left vacant by the late Senator Robert C. Byrd.

From his days as a state legislator to his six years as Governor to his current role, Senator Manchin has always been committed to his philosophy of "retail government" — in other words, connecting with all of his constituents and making service to them his top priority.

As a Senator, Joe Manchin is committed to bringing this same spirit of bipartisanship to Washington. As he has done throughout his entire life, he remains committed to working with Republicans and Democrats to find commonsense solutions to the problems our country faces and is working hard to usher in a new bipartisan spirit in the Senate and Congress.

Senator Manchin currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and also serves on the Senate Committee on Appropriations, the Senate Committee on Armed Services, and the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs - four critical committees that tackle the important work of addressing our nation's energy needs, overseeing discretionary spending, standing up for our Veterans, and defending our nation.

Gallin is the Vice President of Legislative Affairs at Signature HealthCARE, where she has spent the past 18 years advocating for legislative and health care policy reforms impacting long term care at both the state and federal levels. With a distinguished career in health care spanning over 36 years, Kathy is widely recognized for her deep expertise in long term care policy and her steadfast commitment to advancing the needs of vulnerable populations. Her advocacy has led to critical policy changes, including spearheading efforts to increase the Personal Needs Allowance in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee—an initiative that continues to benefit residents across the nation. Kathy serves as a liaison with the American Health Care Association’s Council for Post-Acute Care and Legislative Committee, actively engaging in federal advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C. She is a recipient of the prestigious McKnight’s Women of Distinction Award and the Florida Health Care Association’s Arthur B. Harris Government Services Award, a testament to her leadership and impact in the profession.





JD Med.jpgJoseph DeMattos, a seasoned public affairs leader and former CEO, is a highly respected and accomplished government relations professional. Joseph previously served as the president and CEO of the Health Facilities Association of Maryland (HFAM), the state's largest and oldest long term care association at the time. Before that, he was senior state director for AARP Maryland, where he managed the Baltimore-based state office and oversaw statewide advocacy, community service, and educational initiatives. In 2024, Joseph DeMattos received The Maryland Daily Record's ICON Award, recognizing his enduring contributions and leadership. In 2022, he was honored with the National Part-Time Adjunct Professor of the Year Award by the Gerontological Society of America. He was also named one of The Maryland Daily Record's Top 30 Healthcare Leaders and a Maryland Leader in Healthcare by the Baltimore Business Journal. With extensive experience spanning non-profit leadership, private enterprise, and state government, Joseph’s impact in the health care industry has reached far and wide.
