The number of confirmed H1N1 Flu cases in the U.S. rose over the weekend to 226 cases in 30 states (see
http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/ for more information).
CDC continues to issue and update interim guidance daily. This guidance provides a wealth of information that is useful, not only for preparing to treat patients, but also for answering employee questions, e.g., there is guidance on identifying and caring for patients and guidance for pregnant and breastfeeding women. CDC guidance may be accessed at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/guidance/.
AHCA/NCAL continues to participate in a work group on CDC guidance. We also participate in health sector conference calls where we can relay our concerns to the HHS Assistant Secretary’s Office for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) and get feedback.
The spread of H1N1 flu continues, but at a steady pace. The need for a daily update seems to have lessened. Of course, we will send an update if there is breaking news and we will send an update at least weekly, but please do not look for an update every day. Our H1N1 dedicated site continues to post the latest CDC information.
