The American Health Care Association has prepared a
Medicare rate calculator for its members' use. This calculator is being provided to allow members to estimate the impact to their facility (or facilities) of the provisions of the final Medicare SNF PPS rule, effective October 1, 2009, and the provisions of America’s Affordable Health Choices Act (H. R. 3200). For comparison purposes, the Medicare rates that would have been paid if no changes had been made to the payment system are also provided. These rates are referred to as “Current System”. All tabs are formatted for printing.
Tab A – Input
Tab A is the only location that information needs to be input. Please enter the following information:
- Medicare Area – use pull-down menu and select your area. (If your county is not listed, then use your state’s rural designation.)
- Medicare Patient Days by RUG Category – enter Medicare patient days for any time period that you would like to analyze (monthly, quarterly, annual). The time period may be entered (optional).
Tab B - Results
The results of this data entry are summarized on this tab including:
Rate changes effective October 1, 2009 and January 1, 2010, and January 1, 2010 compared to October 1, 2008
