Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

AHCA is proud to represent intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) residential services providers, including intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICFs/IID) and hom​​e and community based (HCB) waiver group homes for individuals with ID/DD.  ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

ID/DD Day Registration Now Open!!

AHCA/NCAL is pleased to announce that ID/DD Day will be on Sunday, October 6.  Session attendees will get to take part in a motivational and educational day, with speakers ranging from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to a Coordinator of Community Outreach and Engagement to the President of the Grant Professionals Association.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and prizes will be drawn for throughout the day!  In addition, ID/DD Day offers 7.25 CEUs.  If you have any questions about this exciting day, please feel free to contact AHCA’s ID/DD Committee Chair, Renee Naylor, and AHCA’s Director of NFP and Constituent Services, Dana Halvorson.  ID/DD Day registration information and details can be found here

 

 Advocacy

Grassroots Needs YOU in 2013

Renee Naylor, ID/DD Residential Services Committee Chair, encourages YOU to participate in our grassroots advocacy efforts as we strive to achieve the following goals in 2013:


• ID/DD providers will hold at least 20 in-person meetings with members of Congress and/or their Congressional staff in Washington, DC or in their local districts;

• and at least 5 in-district meetings will include facility tours.
As you hold facility tours and/or meet with your legislators this year, we need to track them and would appreciate your letting us know and include the information below.

 ID/DD Residential Services Committee

 
​Committee Meets in D.C.

On March 5, 2013 the ID/DD Committee, chaired by Renee Naylor, held its in-person meeting of the year in AHCA's Washington D.C. offices. Mark Parkinson, President and CEO of AHCA/NCAL, provided a Congressional update to the Committee. In addition, the group heard from speakers from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to the Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association (DDNA).​
 
 
About the Committee
The “ID/DD Committee” drives AHCA’s strategies as they relate to individuals with ID/DD and their providers of residential services, including ICFs/IID and group homes. ID/DD Committee members assist in planning the annual Fly-In event, as well as ID/DD Day at the AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention.
