In the wake of the devastating earthquakes in Haiti, AHCA/NCAL would like to express our heartfelt concern for those individuals who were, and continue to be, so severely affected by the overwhelming damage in that country. As many of us are well aware, the long term care community is fortunate to have many individuals of Haitian descent in facilities across the nation – either as employees, residents, or family members. If you would like to make a tax-deductable financial contribution to aid the people of Haiti, the Red Cross is working to assist those affected by this disaster.
If you choose to make a gift, it will support emergency relief and recovery including sending relief supplies, mobilizing relief workers and providing financial resources. You can donate to the Red Cross online. You can also text the letters “HAITI” to 90999 to make a $10 donation directly to the Red Cross. InterAction has a list of other NGOs accepting donations to aid relief efforts in Haiti. Offers of goods and services should be registered with the Center for International Disaster Information.
