AHCA/NCAL on Twitter

Twitter Follow @AHCANCAL on Twitter - Receive Text Updates from AHCA and NCAL!

What is Twitter? Twitter is a service that allows family, friends, and colleagues to stay connected through short message sent via text messaging (SMS), instant messaging (IM), or the Web. Learn more from the Twitter Support page.

How do I use it?

How is AHCA/NCAL using Twitter? We plan to use Twitter to send real-time updates to convention attendees. We may also use it to send brief updates on issues of importance to the long term care profession throughout the year. You can stop receiving text updates at any time by using the STOP command. Refer to the Twitter Commands page and the Twitter Help page for more details.

What does it cost? There is no charge for using Twitter, but depending on your mobile phone plan, text message charges may apply. Check with your mobile service provider for details.

 Twitter Shorthand

  • Tweet = a message sent via Twitter.
  • @ = Used to prefix another Twitterer's screen name - e.g., @ahcancal. Often used in the context of replying to another user's tweet.
  • # (hashtag) = Used to tag tweets about a particular topic. A keyword should follow the # sign. For example, #nnhw09 for tweets relating to National Nursing Home Week, or #ltc09 for the 2009 annual convention.
  • RT = Retweet. Used when forwarding another user's tweet. For example, a message beginning with "RT @FHCA" would indicate that this is a forwarded message that originated with FHCA.
