Intensive 2 – Leadership Skills for Changing Times
(blue dot on your badge)
Session Description: Your systems create your outcomes. Your organization’s performance – and survival - depends on your ability to guide and support the moment-by-moment interactions of your staff closest to your residents. Performance-based payment, prevention of avoidable hospitalizations, individualized dementia care, quality improvement – all require leadership skills and organizational systems to engage your staff. Easier said than done! There are many forces that work against high engagement yet, your staff hunger to contribute. Learn how to tap into their intrinsic motivation to provide good care and contribute to a team effort. When you involve staff, they will perform at the top of their abilities and so will your organization. This session draws from the Long Term Care Leaders’ Academy for Excellence, created by the California Association of Health Facilities and adapted by the Iowa Health Care Association, which has now supported 4 classes of leaders to learn the skills and practices needed to meet the challenges of our changing times. This session is highly interactive and provides practical strategies that participants can immediately put into action.
Session Leaders: Barbara Frank and Cathie Brady, Principals, B&F Consulting
