Facility assessments are mentioned more than 100 times in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) State Operations Manual (SOM) and F838 – Facility Assessment – specifically outlines facility assessment requirements.  

ahcancalED offers a training resource, titled Strengthening Facility Assessments to Adapt to Regulatory Changes. This webinar explains the regulations, the CMS guidance, operational considerations, and examples of what facilities have been used to implement CMS’ requirements. The webinar also offers a question-and-answer section, along with common myths vs. facts to assist nursing facility leadership in fully understanding the regulatory Facility Assessment mandates. Course objectives include:  
 
  • Review the CMS Facility Assessment regulatory requirements and guidance 
  • Explore considerations for how to implement the regulatory requirements for the Facility Assessment 
  • Share real examples from facilities on approaches they have implemented to comply with different components of the Facility Assessment regulations 
  • Examine frequently asked questions and myths vs. facts regarding the Facility Assessment requirements 
 
The cost of the training is $50 for AHCA members and $75 for non-members and comes with 1.25 NAB CEs and 1.0 contact hour through the Iowa Board of Nursing.
