AHCA/NCAL Convention; Events

Advance registration ends September 24

The AHCA/NCAL annual meeting is an important time to gather together, get your pressing questions asked and answered, and share experiences and strategies. This year, you'll have the opportunity to earn 15.5 CEs with more than 85 education sessions in 16 tracks of learning.

The education at convention is designed to address the issues and challenges you face today, with sessions such as these:

Trauma-Informed Care: Working Through the Pandemic
In what ways has COVID-19 had an impact on you? Have any events in your life shaken you to your core, or made you feel fear, anxiety, or even depression? These may all be sources of trauma. In order to provide the best care to your patients, but also to yourself and your colleagues, you must recognize that past traumas play a significant role in current situations. This session will explore trauma and teach you how to provide trauma-informed care to your patients, your colleagues, and yourself.

Coping and Stress Management During a Pandemic: Helping Staff Build Resiliency
For most people working in long term and post-acute care, the COVD-19 pandemic has been one of the most stressful experiences they have been through personally or professionally. This session will review specific stressors relevant to frontline health care workers during a pandemic and teach ways to cope and stay resilient in the face of COVID-19 and other workplace stressors.

Lessons from COVID-19: Infection Prevention and Control in Long Term Care
The response to the COVID-19 pandemic upended traditional approaches to patient care and infection prevention and control, as health care shifted to emergency response and mitigation. Containment and prevention strategies dramatically changed foundational aspects of infection control due to resource allocation and scarcity, both human and material. This presentation will highlight how to return to the basics of infection control and address strategies for sustaining best practices while, most importantly, remaining prepared for the next outbreak.

Regulatory Reset: Where Are We Now?
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought continual change in the landscape of long term care survey and regulations. From the blanket 1135 waivers issued during the public health emergency to the release of new infection control regulations, changing CMS survey and enforcement guidance, and the implementation of a new focused infection-control survey process, providers have navigated an array of changing survey/regulatory policies and approaches. This session will help providers reset their understanding of the current survey/regulatory environment, understand what has changed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and learn what to expect in the year ahead.
