Nominate a Future Leader of Long Term Care

AHCA/NCAL Updates; Programs and Resources

Nominations for the annual “Future Leaders of Long Term Care (LTC) in America” program are now open. Candidates will be selected for this professional training and mentorship program, which begins September 19 – 21, 2023, with a symposium in Washington, DC. Each state may nominate one person. Nominees for the 2023-2024 class should be owners and/or operators who are up and coming leaders in their state. It is encouraged that nominees reflect the diversity of AHCA/NCAL membership in terms of race, ethnicity, gender identification, sexual orientation, disability, and religion.

ALL nominations must be submitted by AHCA/NCAL State Affiliates. Each state affiliate may submit one nomination. Before contacting your State Association to recommend a candidate for this year’s class of Future Leaders, state affiliates should discuss the following requirements and responsibilities with their nominee. Future Leaders will be expected to:

  • Attend a three-day training session, which will be held in Washington, DC September 19 – 21, 2023.
  • Read and be prepared to discuss five books during the year.
  • Participate in most of the scheduled quarterly conference calls.
  • Attend a graduation event at the AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention & Expo, October 6 - 9, 2024 in Orlando, FL.
  • Demonstrate an interest in working on LTC issues at the national level, which may include participating on AHCA/NCAL workgroups or committees.
  • Consider active participation in the AHCA/NCAL PAC and promoting its importance to other members.

AHCA will absorb the costs related to the symposium, including a two-night hotel stay, airfare, and a fixed stipend of $100 for miscellaneous travel expenses.

Once you have discussed the responsibilities and requirements with your nominee, please contact your State Association with your recommendation. AHCA/NCAL state executives will be asked to submit a nomination for one person by May 8, 2023.
