WASHINGTON, DC – Today marks the beginning of National Skilled Nursing Care Week® (NSNCW), which will continue through Saturday, May 17. Using storytelling to bridge connections across generations, this year's theme, Tapestry of Life, highlights the meaningful stories that make up each person's journey in skilled nursing care. From residents and families to caregivers and staff, everyone adds a unique thread that is woven into this vibrant tapestry. This theme celebrates the connections, resilience and strength that unite us all.

"National Skilled Nursing Care Week is a time to recognize the individuals who are essential to long term care—our dedicated staff and caregivers," said Clif Porter, President and CEO of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). "This week honors the incredible commitment and impact of skilled nursing care staff, who work tirelessly every day to provide support, compassion, and respect to those in their care. I encourage everyone to participate in honoring these remarkable individuals who selflessly serve our residents."

Established by AHCA in 1967, NSNCW starts each year on Mother's Day and encourages skilled nursing care centers around the country to host a variety of events that shine a light on the individuals who reside, work, and volunteer in nursing centers. The week offers activities and events aimed at both entertainment and fostering community bonds, underscoring the essential role skilled nursing organizations play in supporting America's seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Community members are encouraged to join in the celebrations this week by reaching out to local skilled nursing care centers to express their appreciation. Find local skilled nursing care centers by visiting https://ourseniorcare.org/care-finder/.

Participants can also celebrate this NSNCW by sharing stories and messages of gratitude on Facebook and other social media platforms using the hashtag #NSNCW.
