This year’s edition of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW) focuses on the immense amount of collaborative commitment both facilities and their staff have provided to bring compassionate care to residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

AHCA said the annual week dedicated to nursing home caregivers is titled, “Together Through the Seasons,” and will take place May 9-15.

Over the past year, despite the challenges of the pandemic, skilled care centers and their staff have shown an incredible and steadfast commitment to providing quality care and ensuring the safety of their residents, AHCA said.

NSNCW 2021 will focus on this collective effort and the amazing strength and dedication of those who work tirelessly every day to care for and protect frail elders and those with disabilities in long term care. “With each new season come new beginnings, new strategies, and new information. Together, we will get through this, and together we will begin to heal,” AHCA said.

AHCA established its nursing care week in 1967, with each such week starting on Mother’s Day and celebrated through the following Saturday.

To help celebrate, AHCA provides nursing homes a theme each year along with graphics, suggested activities, and specially designed products around this theme. In the weeks leading up to NSNCW, centers are encouraged to plan special events for staff, residents, and families. During the week, AHCA encourages providers to share their NSNCW activity ideas, photos, videos, and messages via Facebook and Twitter using #NSNCW.

This year’s sponsor is Essity, a leading global hygiene and health company that develops, produces, and sells personal care and professional hygiene products and solutions.
