Awards and Recognition; Quality Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) today announced the recipients of the 2023 Silver – Achievement in Quality award. This year, 63 skilled nursing care centers, eight assisted living communities, and one dual skilled nursing/assisted living facility in 27 states earned the Silver Award – the second of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program. The program recognizes organizations that meet progressively rigorous standards of performance to further improve the lives of residents and staff in long term care.

“I am incredibly proud of our remarkable members for this achievement,” said Mark Parkinson, President and CEO of AHCA/NCAL. “This recognition is a testament to their unwavering dedication, passion, and tireless efforts to deliver exceptional services, innovative solutions, and transformative care for their residents and staff. Their impact is undeniable.”

“Assisted living providers continue to be focused on quality, and this year’s Silver honorees demonstrate that commitment,” said LaShuan Bethea, Executive Director of NCAL. “I feel invigorated about the future knowing our members are working diligently to deliver the highest quality care for our residents and congratulate each one for this incredible recognition. This is an important journey for assisted living and all long term care providers.”

Silver and Gold awarded centers have better quality metrics, surveys, and staffing satisfaction than the rest of the nation. Earning the Silver – Achievement in Quality award requires a long term care facility to achieve the Bronze - Commitment to Quality award prior to moving to the Silver level. Applicants adhere to the criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program to evaluate and improve their processes, creating a systematic approach that leads to and sustains positive results.

“We are delighted to honor these incredible providers for being recognized at the Silver level,” said Cathy Bergland, AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board Chair. “I applaud their resiliency and dedication to the quality journey and for this outstanding achievement.”

A list of all 2023 Silver recipients is available on the AHCA/NCAL Quality Award website.

On June 1, AHCA/NCAL announced that nearly 400 facilities earned the Bronze - Commitment to Quality award. The Association will announce the honorees of the prestigious Gold Quality award in August.

The 2023 National Quality Award Program is sponsored by AHCA/NCAL Associate Business Members: PharMerica, Pinnacle Quality Insight, Prevail by First Quality, HealthCap and MatrixCare.

The awards will be presented during Delivering Solutions 23, the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo, October 1-4, 2023, in Denver, Colorado.
