Denver, Colorado – Today, the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) elected AHCA’s Board of Governors and NCAL’s Board of Directors for the 2023/2024 term. Phil Scalo of New Jersey was elected as AHCA Chair, and Mark Maxfield of Idaho was elected as NCAL chair.

Phil Scalo is Founder and Chairman of Bartley Healthcare, a senior care company located in Jackson, New Jersey. Scalo has led Bartley from its inception in 1984 to become one of the most highly awarded senior care companies in New Jersey. Scalo has also served as a consultant for long term care and assisted living operations, financing, and project development. He previously served as Vice Chair on AHCA’s Board of Governors.

NCAL also elected its Board of Directors today, including Mark Maxfield as its new chair. Maxfield is the Owner and CEO of The Cottages, offering assisted living and memory care throughout Idaho. He has been involved in the assisted living profession since 2001, and his prior experience was in managing similar operations for a different segment of the population. He has served on the Board for the Idaho Health Care Association, the Community Care Advisory Council, and previously served as the Vice Chair for the NCAL Board.
