AHCA Releases Statement on FY 2026 Skilled Nursing Facility Prospective Payment System Final Rule

AHCA/NCAL Updates; CMS; Medicaid; Medicare
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Health Care Association (AHCA), representing more than 15,000 nursing homes and other long term care facilities across the country that provide care to approximately five million people each year, released a statement today in response to the Skilled Nursing Facility Prospective Payment System for fiscal year (FY) 2026 final rule issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The following statement is attributable to AHCA President and CEO Clif Porter:

“We appreciate that CMS is implementing a net Medicare increase of 3.2 percent for skilled nursing facilities this next fiscal year. This funding helps ensure that America's nursing homes can continue to deliver the highest quality care to the growing population of aging seniors in need of post-acute care. As costs for goods, services, and labor continue to rise, skilled nursing providers rely on updates such as these to maintain critical services and invest in improvements.

“As a profession, we will continue to work with our nation's leaders to demonstrate the value and role of nursing homes in the nation's healthcare system, and providers will continue to answer the call to serve and care America's seniors and individuals with disabilities."
