WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Health Care Association (AHCA) has announced “Moments in Bloom” as the theme for National Skilled Nursing Care Week® (NSNCW) 2026. The annual observance celebrates the essential role skilled nursing care centers play in providing high-quality, long term and post-acute care to millions of individuals each year.
Taking place from Sunday, May 10, through Saturday, May 16, the 2026 theme, “Moments in Bloom,” reflects how everyday acts of compassion, connection, and teamwork grow into meaningful experiences for residents, families, and staff. It celebrates the idea that big and small moments, when nurtured, can flourish to help residents live life to the fullest and with purpose.
“Caregivers in America’s skilled nursing care centers are all about making each moment an enriching one for their residents,”
said Clif Porter, President and CEO of AHCA. “National Skilled Nursing Care Week reminds us to truly see and honor those moments of care, joy, and community that take place every day.”
Established by AHCA in 1967, NSNCW begins annually on Mother’s Day. Skilled nursing care centers across the country are encouraged to plan events that celebrate the vital role of caregivers and the meaningful lives of residents. Participants are invited to share their stories and moments on social media leading up to and during NSNCW using the hashtag #NSNCW.
AHCA will release a comprehensive planning guide, themed gifts and decorations, and a promotional toolkit in late February. More information, including the 2026 logo and graphics, is now available on the
NSNCW website.
