WASHINGTON, DC – Today marks the beginning of National Skilled Nursing Care Week® (NSNCW), which will continue through Saturday, May 16, and celebrates the role of skilled nursing care in communities from coast to coast. This year's theme, Moments in Bloom, reflects how everyday acts of compassion, connection, and teamwork grow into meaningful experiences for residents, families, and staff. It celebrates the idea that big and small moments, when nurtured, can flourish to help residents live life to the fullest and with purpose.
“National Skilled Nursing Care Week is an important celebration of the special moments in long term care and the people who make them happen,”
said Clif Porter, president and CEO of the American Health Care Association (AHCA). “This week recognizes the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of skilled nursing care teams who, every day, make a meaningful difference in the lives of their residents. I encourage communities nationwide to join us in showing appreciation for these extraordinary individuals and their unwavering service to our nation’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.”
Established by AHCA in 1967, NSNCW starts each year on Mother's Day and encourages skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes around the country to host a variety of events that shine a light on the individuals who reside, work, and volunteer in these centers. The week offers activities and events aimed at both social engagement and fostering community bonds, underscoring the essential role skilled nursing plays in the lives of millions.
Community members are encouraged to join in the celebrations this week by reaching out to local facilities to express their appreciation. Participants can also celebrate NSNCW by sharing
stories and messages of gratitude on
Facebook and other social media platforms using the hashtag #NSNCW.
