A Reflection on Congressional Briefing 2026

Advocacy; AHCA/NCAL Updates; Congressional Briefing

Just three weeks ago, we all came together on Capitol Hill to advocate for issues affecting the long term care profession, and thanks to all who joined us, this year was a major success. It can be difficult to find the time to be away from your facilities and communities; however, the work we accomplished together on the Hill has made invaluable strides.

With Congressional Briefing 2026 now behind us, we wanted to share some of the progress this event set in motion.

  • With the more than 650 AHCA/NCAL members registered for Congressional Briefing, we were able to cover over 250 Congressional Offices spanning 46 states.

  • Also, the number of cosponsors on the bills we are advocating for has steadily increased, as additional cosponsors joined both the House and Senate versions of the Medicare Advantage Improvement Act, the 3-Day Observation Stay Act, and the CNA Lockout Bill.

Our progress is already momentous, but it is important to keep this momentum going in the second half of the year by focusing on facility/community tours during the August and October recesses.

If you have any questions about setting up a facility/community tour with your Member of Congress, please reach out to Heather Posthumus or Ubaldo Martin.
