AHCA was pleased to see the December 9, 2025, announcement from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to indefinitely suspend the mandatory off-cycle SNF Medicare provider enrollment revalidation process Jan. 1 deadline. This was welcome relief for providers who had not yet submitted the required Form CMS-855A revalidation transaction.
However, for those providers that already submitted their enrollment applications, there has been some confusion about what needs to be done when the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) requests additional information with a specific deadline - or if there are unresolved issues with provider enrollment contractor entities resulting in delayed enrollment processing.
This is an important reminder: none of the other Medicare provider enrollment requirements for any type of transactions, including deadlines, have changed. It is imperative that SNF providers comply with the various provider enrollment requirements and deadlines. It is also important for SNF providers to receive accurate and timely support from Medicare provider enrollment contractors.
