Be Ready to Face Imminent SNF Financial Challenges

Programs and Resources

Nursing facilities must prepare now for three imminent financial challenges:

  • The Provider Relief Fund is emptied and will not be renewed.
  • The Public Health Emergency (PHE) eventually will end leading to new Medicaid rate pressures. Providers should not assume PHE- related rates will continue.
  • Medicare Advantage penetration rates are projected to increase by double digits in a majority of states.
As SNFs continue to struggle with sluggish occupancy and workforce challenges, ensuring that every dollar earned for care delivery is retained is imperative. A solid Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) function in your company and buildings is a solid building block for financial stability. AHCA’s RCM Academy provides a grounding in RCM and AHCA can help you understand your RCM options in terms of in-depth, ongoing support.

AHCA’s online training program titled Revenue Cycle Management Academy takes a holistic interdisciplinary approach toward skilled nursing facility (SNF) revenue management. RCM Academy helps develop concrete strategies to secure earned dollars and to “stay paid.”
SNF business office managers and accountants should fully understand the differences among payors and how best to ensure payments from each. RCM Academy helps build that knowledge. AHCA also  recommends that all SNF administrators, assistant administrators, DONs, ADONs, MDS coordinators, and admissions staff enroll in RCM Academy too for a team approach toward reimbursement. Flexible 2022 “AHCA Member-Only” pricing options for RCM Academy include:
