Today, the CDC announced reductions to NHSN reporting pathways which are anticipated to take effect in June 2023. The reductions include elimination of the Therapeutics Pathway and several fields will be removed from the COVID-19 Module Surveillance Pathways, which include Resident Impact Facility Capacity and Personnel Impact. The COVID-19 Module Surveillance Pathways and COVID-19 Vaccination Module remain two separate modules and will need to be reported on a weekly basis.
Key changes include:
- Resident Impact and Facility Capacity (RIFC) Pathway
- Removal of influenza and PPE supply shortages data fields
- Reducing vaccination elements to include only up to date status and "not vaccinated" for residents with a positive COVID-19 test
- Addition of a new data field, hospitalizations, to assess relevant outcome data on residents with a positive COVID-19 test
- Staff and Personnel Pathway
- Removal of COVID-19 deaths, Influenza, and Staffing Shortages
Specific information regarding these changes will be reviewed during the upcoming tentative webinar trainings scheduled by the CDC for June 1 and June 7. Webinar registration information will be available from the CDC soon. AHCA will update members when more details are available.
