The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
announced an update to the list of Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes that are excluded from SNF Medicare Part A consolidated billing (CB) provisions, and that can be billed to Medicare Part B separately. Provider billers are encouraged to review the updates that are effective October 1, 2024.
Seven codes under the major categories of chemotherapy, customized prosthetic devices, and certain blood clotting factors were added to the CB exclusions. One code under the chemotherapy major category was deleted from the exclusion list and will no longer be paid separately during a SNF Part A stay.
