Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program and has been operating for more than 50 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964. Job Corps offers training in the following areas: 

  • Advanced Manufacturing 
  • Automotive and Machine Repair 
  • Construction 
  • Finance and Business 
  • Health care 
  • Homeland Security 
  • Hospitality 
  • Information Technology 
  • Renewable Resources 
  • Energy 
  • Transportation 

Job Corps locations can be found here. Note: Students often return to their hometown after graduation so don’t get discouraged if a center isn’t based in your city.  

Job Corps Centers offer 6-12 months of training, to include certifications and pre-apprenticeship programs, for the following health care occupations (specific occupations may vary across the 122 centers):  

  • Clinical Medical Assistant 
  • LPN/LVN 
  • Medical Office Support 
  • Nurse Assistant 
  • Optical Coherence Tomography 
  • Patient Care Technician 
  • Pharmacy Technician 

As students graduate, they will be seeking opportunities in the field.
