Medline Announces Voluntary Removal of All Medline Brand Beds and Related Products

Safety

Members who use or supply Medline brand beds should review an urgent field safety notice issued by Medline on October 14, 2026. The company is voluntarily removing and discontinuing all Medline brand homecare, bariatric, and long-term-care beds, along with associated hand-control pendants, accessories, replacement parts, and order packages containing beds.

Medline identified electrical safety risks that could cause overheating and fire, as well as entrapment risks associated with bed accessories. The notice identifies potential fire and entrapment hazards that could result in serious injury or death.

Immediate Steps for Members

Medline instructs users to:
  • Immediately unplug affected beds and disconnect associated battery packs or batteries from the bed or accessories.
  • Stop using the bed’s electrical functions. Beds may continue to be used with a mattress in manual mode only until replacement.
  • Make electrical adjustments only in emergencies, such as choking or CPR. If reconnecting power for emergency use, do not use extension cords, and ensure pendants and power cords are routed and secured.
  • Stop using all bed accessories, including side rails, with Medline brand beds.
Replacement, Reimbursement, and Safety Labels
Members should contact the provider or distributor that supplied the bed for removal and replacement information. Those who received a bed within the past five years should also ask whether they qualify for reimbursement or credit.

Medline will provide safety instruction labels for affected beds. If a label has not arrived through the provider or distributor by November 30, 2026, contact Medline Recall Customer Service at 800-950-0128, option 7. Members who purchased directly from Medline should also use this number.

Adverse events should be reported to Medline at QualityAssurance@medline.com or 800-950-0128, option 5, and may also be reported through FDA MedWatch . If an adverse event occurs, members should follow their organization’s incident reporting procedures and any applicable regulatory reporting requirements.
