PHI Releases State Policy Strategies Around Direct Care Workforce

In April, PHI released a new resource for state policy leaders focused on the country's direct care workers. According to PHI, the new policy guide, State Policy Strategies for Strengthening the Direct Care Workforce, describes “24 strategies that states have used to strengthen this essential workforce, improving access to long-term services and supports for everyone.”

The pandemic has exacerbated our workforce crisis, and the long term care sector has lost more than 400,000 workers since the beginning of the pandemic. Last year, AHCA proposed reforms to help address the workforce challenges, and continues to advocate for meaningful solutions and actions that will help recruit and retain more caregivers to serve our nation’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
