The National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) has endorsed the Workforce Housing Tax Credit Act (H.R.8626). This bipartisan bill, introduced by Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and Rep. Mike Carey (OH-15), would increase the supply of affordable housing for middle-income families who earn too much to qualify for low-income affordable housing and not enough to afford to buy or rent housing. H.R. 8626 would help to close that gap between middle- and low-income housing by establishing the first-ever middle-income housing tax credit.

This legislative effort represents an integral step to address the severe shortage of workforce housing available, including for senior living and other workers. You can read more on the bill on Rep. Panetta’s website here.  NCAL will keep its members informed of any relevant updates around this bill.
