The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidance for healthcare workers with infectious conjunctivitis, which is commonly referred to as “pink eye”.
Healthcare workers with suspected or confirmed infectious conjunctivitis should stay out of work until their symptoms are gone. This simplified guidance includes all infectious conjunctivitis, including epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC).
This guidance applies to infectious conjunctivitis, not eye irritation caused by allergies or other noninfectious conditions.
